Living Wages and Living Income Summit 2026
17 June 2026
Living wages and living incomes are no longer just a values question. They sit at the intersection of regulatory pressure, investor and consumer scrutiny, and supply chain resilience. Workers around the world are not earning enough to cover basic needs: one in three does not earn a decent wage, 630 million people live on less than $3.20 a day, Despite producing most of the world’s food, smallholder farmers tend to be food insecure themselves: globally, they form the majority of people living in poverty. An estimated 50 to 95% of smallholder farming households currently don’t earn enough to cover their basic costs of living. Climate change impacts, energy and fertilizer crisis and rising costs, caused by current geopolitical tensions, risks further impoverishment. Living conditions and future of farming are at risk. And so is security of supply. The cost of inaction is rising rapidly.
