ILO office in Japan: Advancing the Cooperative, Social and Solidarity Economy for Decent Work and Social Justice

On the World Day of Social Justice, Ms. Simel Esim, Head of the ILO’s Cooperative, Social and Solidarity Economy Unit and Chair of the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on the Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE), will deliver a lecture for non-partisan national parliamentarians at the First Chamber of the House of Representatives, Japan. The lecture will focus on the role of the cooperative, social and solidarity economy in promoting decent work and advancing social justice for all. Welcoming the official launch of the Second International Year of Cooperatives (IYC2025) in Japan and Asia and the Pacific region, the lecture will underscore the transformative potential of cooperatives in addressing contemporary challenges such as demographic shifts, the green transition, and digital transformation.
